how do i format my 64gb kingston datatraveler flash drive?

just got one of these flash drives, i cant access it and when i try vista wants me to format the drive, when i try it wont format it, either in fat32 or ntfs. its driving me nuts. how can i format the drive
 
looks like it is damaged... im not really sure but that's one sign your flash drive has died... another is when it can no longer be detected when you plug it in the USB port.

if its still under warranty, have it replaced.
 
From what I've read, the drive should work immediately after being inserted into the USB connector without need for formatting the drive.

Apparently something is out of whack on your computer's USB adapter.
