How do I fix the problem of Shockwave Flash continually crashing?

no matter what browser i use, whenever i try to use something that requires the shockwave flash plugin, it crashes the entire browser, and chrome is no exception. i've tried on firefox, internet explorer, and chrome. youtube doesn't work, flash games don't work, and even some homework assignments i can't do because of this.

any ideas on how to fix it? uninstalling and reinstalling hasn't helped at all...

btw, i'm using windows 7 (x68)
