How do I fix the following bugs in my Iphone?

I just updated to software version 4.2.10. Before the update, every song played fine, and all apps worked fine. After the update, 1 in 3 songs won't play. There is no clear pattern in which songs do or do not play, as songs I've gotten off CDs sometimes do or don't work, songs I've gotten off Itunes sometimes do or don't, and songs I downloaded from other sources sometimes do or do not work (that is to say, the same songs always do or do not work, just inside a group, there is no pattern.) Also, Pandora (the only app I really use) will now open, flash to the intro screen, then turn off immediately, taking me back to the main menu. I tried resetting my ipod, tried resetting to factory settings (twice, once wiping it totally clean, once going straight back to the settings using my backed up old settings.) Nothing has worked so far. It is annoying. Gah. Any one else going through anything similar, or have any idea as to how to solve it? Sorry if any of this is incoherent, as it is a little late, and I am tired (from fiddling with the godd**n iphone)
