How do I fix my 1999 (I think) Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Every time I try to start the car, I turn the key and the dashboard lights up. Nothing else, nothing going on under the hood. We just installed a new battery last month and there is no corrosion. I can't afford to have it towed and can't get anywhere without my Jeep. Is there any way I can fix this myself?
