How do I find out who animated what?

After finding out that Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs were animated by several different companies, I was wondering: Is there an easy way to find out which animation studios worked on which shows? I'm curious mainly because I want to see if I can find the variations between different studios' works.

Okay, but what about for other cartoons in general? Is there an easy way to find the production codes? I didn't really make this clear, I'm not just looking for TTA animators, but for any show in general. Can this be moved back out of the Warner Bros. forum?

That guide can be misleading on one instance, however; Night Ghoulery is listed as "W" (for Wang) but is actually a TMS episode.

Anyway, if you want to delve even further into who animated what, I've been trying to discern the different styles of the individual animators at Kennedy Cartoons, much like people have done with the various Termite Terrace units on WB cartoons. I made a few identification posts:

Willy Ashworth: -Inside Plucky Duck

Harold Duckett: -New Character Day (1)
-New Character Day (2)

Jon McClenahan: -Son of Looniversity Daze
-You Asked For It Part II (1)
-You Asked For It Part II (2)
-You Asked For It Part II (3)

It's not much, but it's a start.

I still have a hard time discerning most of the other studios besides TMS (for instance, I could tell TMS did the intro without looking at the credits or anything). AKOM and Wang are hardest for me to discern, since their trademarks are a little more subtle.

With that said, I seem to be in the minority as I actually don't think Kennedy's work is that bad. Inconsistent in parts, sure, but it had its moments.

Same here with Kennedy. TMS and Startoons are very easy for me to recognize on TTA without having to fast-forward to the credits. With Wang and Akom it can be difficult at times, but I'm starting to get the hang of it (Akom has a distinctive-looking Babs Bunny, for example). Freelance Animators is also easy to tell from the other studios, because of their weird-looking Buster, Babs, Yakko, Wakko and Dot designs. And Kennedy Cartoons is pretty much distinctive for me as well, mostly when Glen Kennedy or Jonny Mack is animating.

For telling the Warners' styles, TMS and Wang are easily recognizable to me. TMS's scene-wipe transitions are also pretty distinctive from other studios, judging by their rough-looking fast movement as they do so, and a thick black line often separates the scenes. This not only shows up on the Warners' shows they did, but I recall seeing it on some of the Disney shows they animated like "Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers" and "The New Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh."

Oh and Speedy Boris, I see you've made your final decision that it was really Kennedy Cartoons that animated "New Character Day" and not Wang. I agree with you actually. Throughout watching the whole episode I could tell it was Kennedy's work, and during the creits I was expecting them to list Kennedy, but then when the Wang credit came up I was like, "Oh, I forgot this was the Kennedy episode that was miscredited to Wang!" I think Wang COULD'VE done the ink-and-paint work for Kennedy like they did on "High Toon." But anyways, I even submitted the info to the BCDB entry on "New Character Day" about the miscredit.

Akom is easy to discern because of the shading and shadows they seem to give the characters. That, and in the TTA days, at least, characters would flail around quite wildly. They really toned down by the time Animaniacs debuted, so it's not as easy to tell apart from Wang (ESPECIALLY in the Goodfeathers sketches, which I always had a hard time with). "The ACME Home Shopping Show" is another episode which I highly suspect was mis-credited. Just look at it. NO WAY is that Kennedy. That's Akom through and through.

And sadly, mis-credited studios happens more often than in Tiny Toons. The Simpsons's tenth season is a notorious example. For years, syndication has listed the incorrect studios for numerous episodes in that season for whatever reason. It wasn't until the season 10 DVD set came out that the correct overseas studios were listed. Take a gander at this list of corrected episodes:

-Treehouse of Horror IX: Anivision, but falsely credited as Rough Draft in reruns
-Homer to the Max: Anivision, but falsely credited as Akom in reruns
-Marge Simpson in Screaming Yellow Honkers: Akom, but falsely credited as Rough Draft in reruns
-Make Room For Lisa: Akom, but falsely credited as Rough Draft in reruns
-Maximum Homerdrive: Anivision, but falsely credited as Rough Draft in reruns
-Simpsons Bible Stories: Akom, but falsely credited as Rough Draft in reruns
-The Old Man and the "C" Student: Akom, but falsely credited as Rough Draft in reruns
-Monty Can't Buy Me Love: Anivision, but falsely credited as Rough Draft in reruns
-They Saved Lisa's Brain: Akom, but falsely credited as Rough Draft in reruns

Wow. Somebody screwed up royal when doing the credits during season 10.
