How do I find out what level is the book suited for? Like how difficult it is.?

How do I find out what level is the book suited for? Like how difficult it is. Because I am having trouble choosing which book I want, and I want the one that is more higher in level so I could better improve my reading. I'll buy both eventually but I want one now.
 
I really don't get how you guys classify books by level in the US. Here in Brazil, we just read the books we have to read. I've read incedibly hard books in 6th and easy, simple ones in High School.
You should by a book by the theme or the plot or whatever interests you. Not the level.
