On those dog quizzes I always get Black and Tan Coonhound, which I love but I hear they tend to wander. I'm thinking of moving back to Alaska and i'd like to take my dog to the beach and have it be offleash. (this is not like california beaches, people are fourwheeling, dogs running lose chasing the seagulls and the eagles....nobody cares. Here in Colorado my dog ONLEASH even makes eye contact with a goose and people come yell at me)
Anyway i'd like a dog who is calm in the house and content to lay around. A dog who will be good with young kids/babies -i'm 18 year old female so not planning on kids anytime soon but a dogs lifespan is 10-12 years so I could have kids by then.
I'd like a dog that will be happy with a 1 mile walk about 4 times out of the week and then a 3 mile walk 3 times per week. Also a dog who will sometimes go hiking with me. I like to fish so a dog that will like water.
I want a loyal dog. I've only had Labs and mutts who have been VERY loyal, I now have a 1 year old Golden and he is not very loyal at all. He is calmer which I like and he NOT loyal he follows my little sister, who the Lab HATES because my sister is mean to them, hurts them, and confuses them...I have to protect my dog from her because he follows her. The Lab just stays by me and 100% ignores my sister if I tell her while the Golden runs to her tail wagging.
I want a dog with short fur...very short/smooth.
