how do I figure out if my guy friend likes me or not....?

Im completely in love with my friend, and I really want to figure out if he likes me back... Ive known him for awhile and just this year he started acting different torwards me. like somtimes he will flirt with me and we will always mess around and other times he will be hella mean... I cant figure it out... plzzz help
