How do I disable the automatic log-in attempt to chat when I sign into Yahoo Mail?

Chat wants to automatically connect when I log into Yahoo Mail. I do not want to be automatically connected to chat. Can it be turned off, and if so, how? Thanks everyone!
I dont want the program to even get this far where I have to sign off. I want to keep if from every signing on.
