how do i delete videos from media player when they are already deleted off my computer?

ok a while back i deleted unwanted videos and when i go into media player it still has the videos listed, i try to delete it but nothing happens, i try play them and it says media player has encountered a problem playing this file, that is because they are deleted, how do i remove videos that have already been removed
