How do I delete my name from newsgroup archives?

Many years ago I made some postings on various newsgroups and/or mailing lists, mistakingly using my full name. These groups were mainly open-source programming type groups. Now, years and years into the future... I find my name comes up a lot in Google searches, as archives of those old posts. One of those groups was for an open-source program is called "The Gimp", a Photoshop-like tool for Linux.

Recently I had a really non-techie interviewer who searched my name on the net, wondering what my name was doing being associated with the term gimp (which to some people means something to do with a sexual or retarded nature?). This hit me like a wall... like... damn?

I would really like to remove my full name from newsgroup archives!!!!

But I'm really screwed because a bunch of free services have copied the archives into their own, and make them available on the net. So I don't have one place to go to, to essentially edit or delete those old posts... because they are everywhere, like graffiti, forever on the internet!!!!

whats the best way to clean my name off the net?

Thanks
