How do I deal with the formality of the driving test?

I did my first driving test over a month ago and it caused me serious problems. I was nervous, shaking and like a deer in headlights!!! I even went back to the driving centre early because I couldn't continue!

Now I have another one coming up and I'm worried the same thing will happen again :( I'm quiet good at driving but the problem is that I tend to talk to whoever is beside me. It relaxes me. But when you're doing the driving test the tester doesn't talk to you and I find it really intimidating and off-putting.

I really need help with this. It was suggested that I focus on my breathing but I need to focus on the road!!! :(

Can anyone offer me some suggestions on how to overcome this? I know myself when it comes to any exam I get anxious and in some cases even have been known to lose sleep over it.

If I can get a full license it can open so many more opportunities for me but at the moment I feel powerless. Please help :(

Being nervous and anxious is a sing you are not still ready to be responsible when you drive. To drive and be responsible you have to behave as someone who is taking a responsibility on his/her hands.
Do the internal exercise thinking about which of your attitudes you need to chance to look and behave as a responsible person and that thought once is in your brain and also recognized by you, it will translate to your body and moves and be visible.
The result will be extraordinary different.

i just took my driving test and had problems a lot like you own! If the instructor won't talk try this; register everything on the road. Signs, people, cars everything! Not only will you drive well, you mind will be focusing on the details of the road and it will be harder to become nervous. Make sure you grab the details from everything. Red car, yield sign, no passing, little old lady waiting to cross the street, ect. ect. This preoccupying method will help to ease your nerves and hopefully help you pass! Good Luck to you!

Are you getting lessons from a licensed Instructor? They should be willing take you through the Test themselves, under test conditions of course.

Talking to the person beside you might relax you, but it also takes your mind away from the road and that's what you need to be concentrating on.
