I am a 39 year old disabled vet. I waited till i was 34 to have my first child. I got involved in a "rebound" relationship and low and behold 2 months later she is pregnant. I try and do the right thing and be there for my unborn child. My ex has two other children from two different fellows, both losers in prison, and they are not part of there kids life so i try ed to step up and be a father figure to them. Well...didn't work out. After my son was born we separated. I was having a lot of issues in dealing with this when my mother suddenly passed away. too make matters worse we went to child court and the lawyer i paid defended her. I went into a deep depression. I lost my job, my new truck, my career and my self confidence. I am basically a shell of a man i used to be.
Anyway....after dealing this for 5 years and losing everything including my 3 bedroom house, she says i spend too much time with my son and wants me to stop coming by because " she wants to start dating and don't want to confuse our son". Yet when something goes wrong or she needs money who does she call. When i cant help her i am "punished" by not getting to see my son. I am very attached to my son and enjoy spending quality time with him without his negative mother. I have put my life on hold and barely scrape by so my son can have the best upbringing as i can provide. I am basically homeless now but still try and provide for my son even though his mother makes 3 times the money i do and has a lot of her bills paid by the county.
If anyone has some ideas on how to deal with this so both parties can be happy i would be most grateful.
