how do i deal with a weird break up?

so pritty much i met this girl that i really liked. soon after i found out that there was this guy that she liked but she had known him for and long time and didnt have the balls to ask her out so with some encouragment from a friend i decided to try and go out with her anyway. after about a month of constant talking on the phone and hanging out as much as posible some her friends told me that she really liked me and would say yes if i asked her out. being that i really liked this girl i wanted to make it very specical so i waited until her birthday and took her out for a nice dinner. to ask her out i had the waiter writ "will you go out with me" in chocolate syrup around the edge or her desert plate. which i thought was really sweet. of corse she said yes and it was all going great for a while. until one night after hanging out with some friends she told me that she thought we where going to fast and wanted to break up but she also added that she still liked me and wanted to work on or relationship. this confused me so much i had no idea wtf i was sapose to do and neither did anyone else. i had put so much into the relationship i didnt know what else to do. so i just went with it i tryed to keep talking to her but it seemed like i was just talking to a wall. she almost totally stoped hanging out with our friends and after a while stoped talking to me all together. later i found out that she still had feelings for this other guy im not sure if he said anything to her or something when he found out about me but she must of changed her mind or something which really anoyed me because she said she didnt want to get hurt but she ended up hurting me. its been over a month now and i cant stop thinking about her i cant get over the fact that she led me on all that time just to turn about and pritty much slap me in the face. can anyone give me some tips to help me get over this?
