How do I create a script that crawls my site and takes headlines from articles?

Hi,

I am pretty new at making webpages and databases, etc.

I am trying to make a script that crawls my own website, takes the headline and the first few sentences of the articles, and displays them within a frame/other side menu on the main page. But I don't know how to start. It can be either external or internal, since all of my webpages go live the moment I create them.

How do I do this? What's the best way to do it? Can anyone help me? Thanks. :)
I'd like to make a bot for this because it needs to be auto-updating. Right now, I have to manually enter the article preview and header on two different pages after writing the article. And sometimes either I or the people who work for me forget to update the other two pages.

What I'd like help with is creating a bot (like an RSS feed aggregator or something) that takes the information and adds it to these pages. I just don't know how to write the program/bot.

PS: Maybe the best way to put it is this: You know how you create a new entry in your blog, and the link appears on the right side after you made it? And you click on that link and go to the blog entry? I'd like something like that, only with a text preview of the entry underneath the link. And the entry itself is not linked to that page. :)
