How do I convince my parents to let me upgrade or buy a new fish tank?

I have 3 fish tanks. 2 1 gallon tanks, and 1 10 gallon tank. One of the one gallon tanks isn't being used and looks really small. I would like to get a couple of fish probably guppies but I'm not sure.I found a 5 gallon aquarium on Craigslist and I really want to buy it. It comes with a hood filter and some other stuff also. How do I convince my parents to let me get it. I would be paying for it, and we have enough room also.

Ghapy's got it, would they rather have two smaller tanks in the house, or one larger one?

Tell them you will take down both 1 gallon tanks, which are horrible homes for any fish anyway, and set up just the 5 gallon instead. Trading 2 for 1, and a better home for the living creatures to boot - how can your parents argue?

I agree with Ghappy. Also owning pets teaches responsibility...more pets, more responsible!!
