How do I connect WLAN connection on computer to Nokia 5800 using WLAN?

I have next to know idea as to how to setup a WLAN connection that connects my device to my computer. My friend managed to connect his lap to mine but I still don't know how to setup a connection with my phone (it has WLAN) so I can use the wired internet connection from my laptop with my device (Nokia 5800). I don't have a router I just know that my lap has a WLAN adaptor
