How do I connect my LG Versa to my comp?

I have been trying to do this for the past year with absolutely no success. I found a site finally that told me. The only problem is it seems my phone has a tiny deviation from the description ( link to the site and instructions http://forums.intomobile.com/lg/155555-how-do-i-get-pictures-off-my-lg-versa-onto-my-computer.html ) my phone instead of saying usb mass storage says usb mass detection and leaving me with only data or music as the options and I have a ton of pictures I want on my comp ( too many to send through texts ) please please please someone help me
