I want to create a song on a computer program so I can hear it mid-creation. What is the easiest way to write the song as far as computer programs? I have lots of ideas and I can sing, I just need to hear my ideas before I commit to them. In my head they sound great, but I want to hear them as I'm composing, you know? And although I understand a guitar and piano well enough to create music for them (know scales, chords, and can read sheet music), I can't play them well enough to play what I write (others definitely could, though).

Computers are great.. but NOT as a primary instrument FOR MUSIC COMPOSITION . You people always want to do something without taking the time to LEARN THE BASICS so you spend a lot of time trying to do something as simply as possible.. and THAT DOESN'T WORK when it comes to writing music.
I compose on average 20 music pieces a month (mostly 60 seconds long) for commercials and do some custom work for TV and the LAST thing I would be crazy enough to try to do is compose music on the computer.. and I have a heavily computerized studio that lets me play a piece and not only record it, but print out the music.. but PRINTING the music is just SECONDARY to creating the music... it's more for legal documentation than anything else.

You can buy a keyboard and computer program (a small fortune). That records every note you play. to be replayed until you, yourself are sick and tired.

P.S. Chords are calculated by the program, you are only composing the lyrics. In any/all instruments you like!
