how do i clear a usb flash drive?

i have 8 gb cruzer san disk flashdrive and i took everything off of it and put it in a folder on my computer so i could do something with my xbox but when i try to put everything back on there isnt enough memory there is only 2.2 gb open..i delted everything i could get to..maybe just corrupted files?? my computer runs on linux please help
