how do i clean a fish tank that has had a GOLD FISH in it?

ok i got a male betta and we have a fish tank that has had some gold fish in it and i wanna clean out the tank so my betta wont die from the emonya. that i herd goldfish give off. so what do u suggest???

well...You need to take out the water, take out the gravel, put it in a clean bucket that never had soap in it. Wash out the gravel untill clean. Do not put soap or any detergents in the aquarium, instead, use a cloth to wash out the scum with warm or hot water. If the gravel still smells bad then you need to boil it on the stove for 10 minutes or untill sterilized. You can wash the tank out in vinagar or salt, which ever one you choose it will still work, then thoroughly wash out again. Then its ready for some water
 
I think you're talking about ammonia. It's something all fish produce in their waste. Goldfish just produce more waste, therefore producing more ammonia. Just clean your tank normaly. =]

Scrub, scrub, scrub! Just don't use any detergent or chemicals and you'll be fine. =]
