book its in? This is the example Email i sent to my professor

I am currently working on my citations for my political perspectives paper for the portfolio due tomorrow, and I was wondering if it is alright that i use both foot notes, and running citations. If not, could you suggest a better method? I considered using all footnotes, but i cite the same author indirectly many times with different page numbers, and I don't know how to effectively cite those sources without running citations.

example:

This person said that about liberalism (Solanger 206)..and after the statistics were taken, the numbers proved the program to be ineffective (Solanger 217).

When I use footnotes, its usually for direct quotes that are already used in the text or to define a word outside of the text. This is an example directly from my paper:

Conservatives believe the role of government should be to “achieve the maximum amount of freedom for individuals that is consistent with the maintenance of social order.”10

The foot note reads:

10 Barry Goldwater, The Conscience of a Conservative (Shepherdsville, KY: Victor Publishing, 1960) 13.

So I guess it boils down to three questions.

Is it okay that i am using two types of citation, if not what can i be doing differently?

What else do i have to do to properly cite the running citations in my paper? Do i need to do a citation of each author at the end of my paper in a works cited, or do i have to just site the book (writing in the world) that i received the information from? Or is what i have, without the works cited page okay?

When i directly cite a quote form Writing in the World, even if its from another author in another book, do i have to include writing in the world in the citation?
