How do i change a image from PNG to JPEG?

i customise a image in Photobucket and IMVU uploads it but i got this other other image that i didn't custiomise and it wont upload as its a PNG image, i tried uploading it to Photobucket so maybe that would change it to JPEG but it didn't. I've tried cick on Save As and change it from there BUT it does not come up with the option JPEG only PNG and BMP (bitmap). I'm not very good with this sort of thing so PLEEASE if you know what i should do give me a step-to-step guide to how to do it :)
 
1. Download gimp (its just like photoshop but free)
2. open your picture in it
3. Save as your desired format
4. Profit!
