When ever I feel like I am going to have an anxiety attack I try to keep myself calm but it usually doesn't work. I have tried to read or breathe slowly but I can never soothe myself and I have the attack.
what are some good tricks to help keep myself calm or more calm than usual before an attack that work for you? thanks!

My mom, I have separation anxiety. I have attacks usually when she goes out to the bar, or anywhere with frienRAB, especially if i don't know them, or if it is a male or sometimes just when I can't be with her (work etc.)
I always think about how she might just not want to be around me anymore and want to go out even more than she already does, because I like to stay at home but she likes to go out with frienRAB and stuff, so when I think about things like that it usually will set off an attack.

Hi littlebear,
I know how crappy anxiety and anxiety attacks can make you feel.
Think of something soothing or relaxing when you have really bad anxiety. I usually think of a big fluffy bed with lots of pillows. SounRAB silly I know but it's a comfort thing I guess. Just know that anxiety goes away after ten to fifteen minutes ( usually ). When you have a panic attack tell yourself that the feeling can't get any worse and it usually will subside.
I highly recommend the book "Self Help for your Nerves" by Dr. Claire Weekes. This book is amazing in understanding anxiety and how to overcome it.
Read up a little more on the Internet as well on how to overcome it too or some relaxation techniques ( exercising, meditation, etc ).
Hope this helps and you overcome this. It is possible! :-)

May sound silly, but, rent the movie phenomenon with john travolta.

There's some really good and simple breathing methoRAB that will help you to relax and bring your blood presure down.

It also works great for serious pain, so pain medication isn't needed.
