I recently was arrested for a DUI (asleep with keys in the ignition and engine running) I have just graduated a 2 year internship with the fire department. This DUI will prevent me from getting a job in the fire service for the next 5 years. I weighed my options and decided that military firefighting was the route to take for the next 4 years. The problem is if the judge puts me on probation, I cannot enlist in the military. I've heard that if the judge decides not to give me probation due to the fact that I want to enlist, the military still will not accept me. My world is litterally falling apart because of this stupid mistake I made! Is there any way to convince the judge to drop the probation sentence with out directly stating it for military purposes? I apologize for the lengthy question, and greatly appreciate any advise you can provide.
How do I bring up probation and military enlistment with my judge when I go to court?
