how do i begin to get my poems out into the publishing world?

i've entered a few contests here and there, but there are so many opportunities out there that i'm not quite sure where to begin! (so many different literary magazines with different themes, etc.) i need to know how to find my place in the literary world, or more importantly, where to begin. should i continue submitting to literary/arts magazines? entering contests? contacting publishers? i'll post a few poems if you readers would like an example of my writing style. please, i need advice! : )
