how do i become a pro poet?

hi my name i kevin and i've been wondering how to make a career out of writing poetry???

here is an example of 1 of my poems:

ignited hearts

I wanted you to stay,
And not to leave me, no not ever.
I wanted you right here,
To stay for now until forever.

Why did you have to leave,
And leave my strong heart cold and shaking.
Because of what you did,
I end up crying when I' m waking.

I really need you here,
Your like a drug, I've been infected.
You can't just disappear,
Cuz my whole life has been affected.

You've left hole within my chest,
Like from the inside I am dying.
You've taken all my strength away ,
And left me shaking here and crying.

Because of what had happened
To only poems I'm devotional.
You may not understand,
You've left me emo and emotional.

Why you did this?
I don't know.
What will I do?
Let this go.

I have already forgiven you,
In hope are hearts may me united.
I hope are spark exists,
In hope are flame may be ignited.

some of my haiku:

jump

the distance is large
the leap is more colossal
i am too afraid

warming

her smile is amazing
its brighter than the sun
she warms me

separation

the gap is enormous
but my love is even bigger
i love her
 
i think it is quite difficult to make a career out of writing poetry. i would suggest just keep writing and sending your poems into magazines and competitions to try to get published, while having another job to pay the bills. another route you could take would be to go to university and study creative writing and english and go on to do a masters or phd. then you could get a job at the university teaching or doing research, and applying for grants to do your creative work.

the important thing is to keep writing your poetry!
