How do I ask my mom for birth control without her thinking I'm having sex?

Last year my period was very irregular so she offered to bring me to the doctor to start birth control. But I was afraid of gaining weight so I decided not to. Since then, I got a boyfriend. I have been getting really bad cramps and would like to try birth control, but since I have a boyfriend now I feel like she will think I'm having sex, especially since I turned it down before... So what should I do? Am I worrying over nothing, or do you think she would be suspicious?

I'm 17 by the way...
 
If you are 17, why tell her in the first place? Does your doctor require her permission? And if he does, just tell her whats really going on. That when you hang out with your boyfriend you feel really uncomftrable when you're on your period. If you aren't a rebellious teen and have your mom's trust, she will believe you.
