How do I ask my dance teacher I want to do a solo?

My name is Kirsten and I am wanting to perform a solo. IN order to perform a solo I have to go to competition and I have no idea how to ask her!! I am wanting to perform eiether a Hip-Hop or Jazz solo. I think she understands my passion for dance and now I want to really prove to her I am ready to do a solo I just need some help explaining it. If you could help me write out a letter in e-mail to her I would appreciate your help!! If you could somewhat write like a fake e-mail to help me out that would be awesome!!
