how do i ask a girl to the valentines dance?

so i really like a girl and i know she likes me cause some of her friends told me. There's a valentines day dance coming up and i wanna ask her to come with me but i dont know how to ask her to come without acting like an idiot
 
give her complements and mabey chocolates and roses to show her that shes noticed then ask her out
