...creation of a new job title.? I recently, on my own initiative, brought new technology to my workplace (with approval), designed, implimented and succeffuly have maintained this new technology for over a year. I did not work with a team, I did this completely by myself- its been bringing moneyand the potential for more money, into the company. Now suddenly the marketting dept who had no input on this, seems to want to get involved and do to my existing job title, I forsee them being able to take over my project using their policy and procedures guidelines as it techinically falls under them- despite my doing 100% of it. How do I verbally approach the subject of having a new position created where this new techology is UNDER that new job descriptions policy and procedures, considering I am the one who knows the most about it. I dont want some...team that isnt even directly connected to me having any input at all coming in and taking the glory for my efforts and suddenly Im in the background or forgotten.
Jim: I'd appreciate mature responses from people. I shouldnt have to point out that positions and legalities revolving around them, cannot become manifest without evidence supporting them. I had to SHOW the technology was actually beneficial- and it is. Why would any company create a position for new tech without even testing it for a period? The moment you bring the subject up at all youve let the cat out of the bag about the concept for someone ELSE to run with. So the entire thing had to be shown as viable, LOGICALLY, before I could even think about approaching the subject of having a position created surrounding the tech. So instead of laughing and pointing fingers like a school yard child how about offering genuine answers.
