How do I add the favicon.ico to my HTML webpage?

I have built my own HTML personal web page which is stored on my flash drive. I want to add a favicon.ico to my page, but whatever instructions I do get corospond to me having to upload the file to my domain service (which I don't have yet) and adding a line of code to the HEAD section. The favicon is in the same folder as the webpage, so how do I put it in? Do I have to have a domain service?, and if I do, is it possible to upload all my files to moonfruit or facebook? thx
