How do get our puppy not to yelp, whine or howl when left in her kennel?

Our almost 3 month puppy yelps, barks, whines and howls every time we leave her in her kennel when we leave to run errands, we live in an apartment and we have to find a way to help her adjusts and get use to being home alone, she is too young and not fully potty trained to be left out in the apartment on her own, or trust me we would! What can we do to help her see that she’s not being forgotten and that we ALWAYS come back. We left the tv on for her but that just seemed to make it worse for her, almost as if she thought it was our voices and we were still home. Will be coming home in the afternoon to let her out for her potty break till she gets the potty thing down. She also likes her kennel and will put herself in it when she wants to take a nap that is as long as the door is opened. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I agree with covering the kennel with sheets, that is comforting for a lot of puppies. Also give the pup something good to chew on while you're gone so she'll be distracted. A hollow beef bone or Kong with cheese or peanut butter stuffed in it works well.
Try wearing the puppy out before you kennel her. Play and romp with her until she's tired, take her to go potty then put her in her kennel. Don't make a fuss, just quietly leave. It does take a while for puppies to get used to being left alone in a crate and most will make quite a fuss. You just have to stick it out and it'll stop. You are doing the right thing by kenneling her, she's much safer this way.

she has to learn that whining will not get her out so be patient. when you are home and put her in it DO NOT come to her when she whines or speak to her .any bit of attention will teach her to whine to get you to get her out or give her attention. Even when you come home let her out when she stops whining this will teach her to behave if she wants out . i know it breaks your heart you think your being soooo mean but a kennel will become her safe place ,well it already is if she is napping in it. if you stick to your guns and follow the plan it will all work out. the main thing dogs is to be consistant.

I have a boxer and when we first started to crate train her she would do the same thing. we found that if we put her in there while we were home during the day it seemed to help she didn't get so anxious when she did go in the crate. also try and give her something to chew on or play with so she can be entertained.
