Why does it take foreign archeologists often times to uncover the secrets to the lost worlds? Why aren't the indigenous peoples more akin to what transpired beforehand?

many reasons. if climate changes, wars, etc force an indigenous group to move, over time nature just covers what came before. or be built over after being destroyed by another culture. cultural lore stays with the group even as it moves. it evolves like a game of 'telephone' unless it is written. and even then, until the printing press, the hand transcribing produced changes in translations and interpretations. making stories even in the bible open to interpretation. was it the red sea, or the reed sea, that parted? for examle.. the topography has changes that make it difficult to use the bible as a rand mcnally road map.

I know what you mean. Archaeologist from America and Europe are working diligently to reclaim lost history in South America. They have done some great work. Things have changed though, many of those countries archaeologist/scientist are getting involved.
There is a lot of shame involved. Many of these areas have been vandalized or pilfered by the locals. The new problem these days are those same people are demanding artifacts be returned to those countries. There is reluctance to do this, due to the instability of these governments.
There is an excellent documentary shown on PBS about the Conquistadors that pillaged parts of South America. It has become evident that those Europeans did not defeat the natives. They actually force one tribe to war against another. Then they sat back and took in the benefits.

The locals already know what happened to the gt gt gt parents it was all passed down and they don't really want bit of the gts old cooking pots.
