HOW DO CHINESE,or certain countries chat on facebook,if those countries use symbols?

i was just wondering,honestly how people of the asian culture that depand on symbols for written communication chat on facebook,or whatever,ive heard that there are up to 10,000 symbols for just one language,and do they have special keyboard,or 10 keyboards at once,LOL,really whats up....?
