How do can I properly clean my Jeep Wrangler's hard top?

I just picked up a 1998 Jeep Wrangler, and I want to clean the hard top... i noticed it smudges a little when you touch it with your bare hand, so I want to make sure I take all of the precautions before I ruin it, thanks
