Wrong you can add an intercooler with out a turbo. The intercooler takes the air flow and cools it before going into the engine.
Without a turbo you do not need an intercooler. The intercooler is need to cool the boosted air from either a turbo or supercharger. The air gets hot as it gets compressed. if the air is not compressed it should not need cooling.
A better idea would be to add a K&N cold air filter package kit. It allows a higher volume of colder air over stock air filters assemblies. It added 14 horsepower to a 2008 Toyota Tundra v-8 over stock.
If you add a turbo later the K&N will still alow more air to go the turbo.
Since you have a computer for this question, try a can of compressed gas duster. Spray the can and it will get cold. The high pressure inside gas (carbon dioxide) will decrease the internal pressure and cool down.
