How do a use a blackberry storm 9530 with my t-mobile sim card?

I bought a blackberry storm 9530 from a guy on craigslist, I think he had verizon, but I have t-mobile. I inserted my t-mobile sim card in the slot, but the phone didn't work. What do I do?
