How difficult will it be to get a GM car fixed if the company fails?

I am considering buying a 2005 Chevy Equinox SUV and am worried if GM fails about the ability to get the car fixed. The car would be purchased from Carmax and would not be subject to any long term extended warranties. The mileage would be between 35,000-42,000 miles depending on the exact SUV we choose. They have a few to pick from. I really think this is ideal for our family and have my heart set on the car. What are your thoughts?
I am not worried about warranties my last two cars went to the dump because of problems my Ford Expedition burnt to the ground because a recall was not fixed on it properly with the cruise control and I also had a Dodge Intrepid that the engine blew at 80,000 miles. So I really just want to make sure I am not making a bad decision. Really hate car companies right now.
