I study computer science at Duke in North Carolina and would love to get out of the country for a few years (my family travels a lot, but I have not studied abroad before).

How selective are European grad schools in comparison to ones in the States?

Depends on the country. You would have to pass through a couple of test that's for sure.

Getting in is about the same difficulty.

Completing the degree tends to be easier in Europe, though, than in the U.S.A. The reason for this is in the U.S., a graduate degree includes coursework, exams, papers, etc. In Europe, a grad degree generally only includes a thesis (a paper).
