Hebrew culture mainly the laws of the ten commandments greatly influences Western culture today. The commandments play a major role in modern law and various customs (not taking the lords name in vain, not working on the Sabbath, etc.). Also the idea of individual responsibility was conceived by the Hebrews and of holding one responsible for their own crimes unlike past cultures (Mesopotamians) who would punish criminals families and servants/slaves.
