Millions of young unmarried soldier died during WW1 and let me put in these words, reduced potential partners for woman, in a lot of countries even into a relation of less than one man for every woman.

I wonder how that affected the genders relations. Is eventually the fashion of short skirts a reaction for that fact. Also hairstyle of woman was shorter in the 20ies, a bit more masculine and "emancipated". Does this has a link with increased female competition and how? In general, what happened? I`am specifically interested in time after WW1, but tell as much as you know, also for WW2. Thanks.
