I'm writing a paper about the Ford Mustang. I would like to include how it impacted the car industry and how it also impacted people. I have tried to look through books and the internet but i can't find a site that has something like that. Could someone please help?

it was the catalyst for whole "pony car" class of car during the 60's....it of course promted chevy to create/introduce the camaro 3yrs later to try and compete
(though it never sold as well as the mustang)

It also helped kickstart/influence the whole muscle car era, though the mustang itself was generally NOT a muscle car (though there are a few models that meet the criteria)

The styling was the entire attraction at first - it had a look that was only seen in Italian cars before then. The idea you could have a Ford that looked like that was irresistible to young, hip, buyers.

It spawned the phrase "Pony Car" any of several cars designed transport more then two persons that was easy to afford as well as being performance oriented. It filled a niche for those with small families that did not want to buy big boat sedans but did not want a scaled down "family car". It was a restyled Falcon and as such had eye candy to appeal to the more Avant-guard type person. Teens and those in their twenties wanted something like this- not your daddies Ford Fairlane but still a family car.

Speed and power are compelling qualities, so it's no surprise that muscle cars such as the Mustang, were such a happening back in the 1960s and continue to hold an allure that transcends decades and generations. When people think of american mussle the ford mustang is what comes to mind. Now with new and improved technology ford has been able to produce better high quality racing vehicles
