How did piracy started? - History of Piracy?

not the pirates at the sea but...

The word "piracy" that I'm using means about stuffs like movies, DVD's, games, etc. that are sold in bargain for the benefit of "poor" people... I need to take down notes about its history. In other words, why did it start? is it because of jealousy? desire? etc.

All responses would be fully acknowledged but...
I would focus more on the comprehensive ones.

Are you saying that you do not know about Robin Hood and others like him elsewhere in the history or in other countries?
