Some people are stupid enough to believe their own spin. She's one of them and she knows that the people who listen to her don't give a rats ass about her ever being right about anything in her life because if she stopped on green and drove on red they are rabid enough to be driving against the wrong light with her.

Because they are stupid and don't care.
 
She wanted her story to make a point and the truth wouldn't have done that so no need for google.
