How did liberal policies of wanting to maintain the moral high ground work during Carter and Clinton's Terms?

There were no terrorists attacking the U.S. or taking American hostages then...Right?Don't put words in my mouth Hippie.

You're right...they should have done what Regan did...sold arms to Iran, a terrorist state, to free the hostages. That sure was playing hardball with them terrorists! I know! Let's give them arms! Brilliant thinking.

The terrorists who attacked America during Clinton's term were caught, tried, and convicted. The hostages were released without ONE of them dying.I can't imagine why anyone would think that nothing bad is ever going to happen to Americans. I can't imagine why it's so difficult for some people to understand that an act of terrorism is to be punished just like any other crime. It isn't prudent to alter our entire way of life, and sacrifice our beloved Constitution for a political game of pretending to provide 100% safety. There simply isn't any such thing as 100% safety. We simply believe in obeying the law. That's what the law is there for - you don't get to morph it every time a circumstance changes. And another thing - we've sunk untold trillions of dollars into Homeland Security, and we have the CIA, the FBI, the NSA, all the military branches, the "black ops", the Pentagon -- if all those guys are qualified and DOING THEIR JOBS, then I'm satisfied that that is a reasonable security blanket.

Liberals always give the appearance of taking the high road but they operate from the gutter.

Ever heard of a guy named Nixon? Clinton, on the other hand, won based upon his credentials; not on any sense of moral high ground!

Peanut carter almost broke us and gave away everything he could while he could. All of the libs want to badmouth Bush but, he did serve 2 terms. Even the libs could not stand more than 4 years of carter.

Thanks for finally admitting that conservatives don't believe morality is something to stand up for.Something Bush never seemed to learn is that morality doesn't go out the window during war. If we sink to the same level of depravity as our enemy, we are no better than they are.Our Nation is founded on the Rule of Law. Interesting how the Bush administration flaunted BOTH morality and law, and how we let him get away with it.

Not so well. Carter thought the shah of Iran was just the most evil thing imaginable. Guess what? The Ayatollah and the mullahs proved the Shah was a sweetheart by comparison.Clinton. Well, what can we say about the moral high ground there...besides snickering?
