how did colonial borders create problems for the nations of africa?

Borders were basically arbitrary. They just drew on a map without consideration for the people or the land. Just like when they made the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan cut through the most rigid mountains in the world. So after the borders were put in, two opposing groups were in the same country while some of the same people were in the bordering country.
 
The colonial borders did not take into account tribal boundaries so there was problems.
