My fiance and I live in an area that isn't hugely populated with homes. We have a large amount of fields and woods around us, BUT, said woods are also surrounding a highway about a quarter of a mile from the house. Recently, we've been hearing a lot of howling that doesn't sound very far away at all. I don't really know the difference between coyotes and wolves and have gotten myself very paranoid about how close/dangerous these guys may be. I have a dog that I take for walks around the yard through the day and night and recently the night walks have become increasingly scary for me because I can hear the racket these wolves/coyotes are making and they always sound so close.
What I'm wondering is if it is common for either of these species to attack? I read that some of them have become bolder because they've had more human interaction recently, but I also read that a lot of them are shy.
Any information/knowledge that you guys have about wolves or coyotoes would be great. Thanks!
