I don't mean the stupid, trendy, "let's be teen witches" type dabbling, I mean people who actually practice things of an occult nature. Are there many people in the African-American community opening up holes to the spirit world and stuff? Are occult subjects more taboo in the African-American community or is it more widespread than people believe?
I am not saying that I support these practices, I am just curious what it is like in the Black community. It is very common in the White community because of European history and the church being the bad guys so the occult becomes the biggest symbol of rebellion in the European diaspora many times. It goes back to the church suppressing the native cultures over the centuries. I was just wondering how this plays out in the Black community since it would be a different relationship with the main religion anyway.
I hope that they don't conjure up the demon Mephiskapheles.....
