I know a person who lost the oil in his engine on a GM 3.4L engine due to extreme high pressure blowing the seal out of the oil filter. This resulted in losing all engine oil in the engine and now the engine is knocking so essentially the engine is done for. It also pretty much goes without saying the cause of this was failure of the oil relief system on the oil pump. So that is not what the question is about. My question is asking how often does this occur in GM 3.4L engines??? I have been around or worked on engines for over 30 years and this is the first time I have heard of a failure due to the relief valve failing to relieve on the oil pump. However, I am not all that familiar with the GM 3.4L engine so I am asking if anybody knows of similar failures in the 3.4L engine
